Celluloid Wonderland: Le Cinéclub/The Film Society Reveals it’s Winter Programming!

Le Cinéclub: The Film Society has recently unveiled it’s winter/spring programming schedule!

For many years, this group has delivered some of the most fun and interesting screenings of films from around the world, all of which are gloriously projected on 16mm or 35mm. Le Cinéclub: The Film Society offers rare and unique experiences for every kind of cinema-lover, including a special silent film screening on May 30th, which will take place at a local church with live musical accompaniment ( Raoul Walsh’s The Thief of Bagdad)!

Screenings usually start at 6:30pm (doors at 6), and tickets are 6$ at the door for students (8$ for everyone else). Le Cinéclub: The Film Society Winter/Spring Program

January 18th, 6:30pm, VA 114 PEEPING TOM (UK, 101min) Dir. Micheal Powell, 1960

Here, the camera captures a deranged man who captures women with his deranged camera. This is a film so disturbing, it destroyed Powell’s brilliant career. Very rare vintage 35mm Technicolor print! ___________________________________________________________________

One of the greatest Broadway-styled musicals of all time is full of pathos, humour and “pre-code” sexual innuendo. The spectacular choreographies by Busby Berkeley are simply breath taking on the big screen. ___________________________________________________________________
