The Concordia Graduate Film Studies Student Association will be screening Our Lady of the Assassins (2000) by Barbet Schroeder as part of their Movie Night series on Wednesday, February 11th at 6pm in the MIRC
“The first time I watched Schroeder’s Our Lady of the Assassins, I was starting my studies in cinema and wanting to know more about popular Latin American movies,” says CGFSSA member Joaquin Serpe. “I watched it just after experiencing City of God and Elite Squad, hoping to find another “South American Action Film” but I ran into something completely different. Our Lady has an intention beyond entertaining. I recently wrote a paper about Latin American city films and I believe Schroeder’s piece is a great example of that…I always try to share bits and pieces of my own culture and the CGFSSA’s movie nights are always great opportunities to do so.”
After the screening, Pizza will be served in the Grad Lounge.
Bon Cinéma!
