EPIGEUM – New TA Training Modules Now Available

The Centre for Teaching and Learning has made available to all professors and TAs the Epigeum Teaching Skills Modules.

These modules are four interactive multimedia courses:

  1. marking, grading and giving feedback;

  2. making the most out of discussions;

  3. basic teaching skills; and

  4. principles of course design.

Originally designed by a United Kingdom-based online learning company, these modules are available for all faculty and graduate students through Moodle on myconcordia.com.

They include easy-to-follow lessons on effective post-secondary teaching, bolstered by exercises, video interviews with award-winning professors and links to further resources.  Epigeum provides multimedia courses to help faculty and graduate students further improve their skills.

On a personal note: after having completed these modules this past summer in preparation for future TA opportunities, I have to say that I found a ton of valuable information, especially in regards to how one should approach students and respond to their inquiries.

Make the most of your TA experience by completing these modules!

NOTE: a link to EPIGEUM has also been placed in Grad/Aperture’s resources tab, in the Teaching Resources section.
