Concordia is having its university-wide open house this Saturday October 27, and the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema is coming out in full swing! Starting at 10:00 AM, the school will have an information table along with the other Faculty of Fine Arts programs in the EV building (1515 Ste-Catherine Street W).
Then at 2:00 PM, drop by EV 1.162 to watch the Film Studies presentation and workshop, which will include:
A brief historical survey of cinema and media practices that explore the blurry line between fiction and nonfiction in documentary filmmaking, from Edwin S. Porter’s The Life of an American Fireman (1902) to Jersey Shore (2009-), and more. With Dr. Luca Caminati, Associate Professor.
WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE IS CINEMA TODAY?
A short lecture on film studies as an entry into the study of moving image cultures, and an overview of some of the many ways to approach the film image in our multimedia era. With Dr. Marc Steinberg, Assistant Professor.
Current students are invited to come by, engage with the lectures, and share their experiences with prospective students. Be sure to invite anyone you know who might be interested in knowing more about Film and Moving Image Studies at MHSoC!
