The 2013-2013 MA Thesis Workshop has now been going on for three months, and I think we’re due for an update on what is happening.
What’s happening? First off, I’m happy to announce that, after some tremendous work on their part, MA students Jesse Balzer and Malory Beazley will be submitting their MA thesis on Monday. I also want to add that, as someone who has read both their theses, they are quite remarkable. Congratulations to them both for producing such great work!
For those of you who don’t know, the Thesis Workshop is open to all MA students in Film Studies who wish to work on their theses. It is run by Kaia Scott, who leads the workshops with great compassion and dedication. Did I also mention that she does so voluntarily and in her spare time?
The group setting allows students to get feedback from people who have been through this process before, and from fellow students who are also going through the same steps. Furthermore, the regular meetings forces participants to commit to a schedule, which as we all know can be hard to do alone.
What’s next? Writing a thesis can be a daunting undertaking, which is why I would like to invite all MA students currently writing or planning to write a thesis to join us for the remainder of this year’s Thesis Workshop. More specifically, we would like to welcome first year MAs who are looking for help with writing their thesis proposals. Not only will this group workshop help you work through the various problems you could encounter, but it’s also a great way to see what the actual thesis writing process looks like. If you need more information or would like to join us in our next meetings, please contact Kaia (kaiajscott [at] gmail [dot] com ) or Philippe (bedphil [at] gmail [dot] com). Or just talk to us in person when you see us.
We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
