New at the MAC: Christian Marclay’s “The Clock”

Good news everyone! The Clock, by Christian Marclay is opening tomorrow at the Musée d’Art Contemporain.

This 24 hour real-time video installation will be hosted at the MAC from February 22 to April 20. However, it is important to know that viewers will not have the leisure of going to see the full 24 hour loop whenever they want. Unfortunately, the MAC informs us that it will screen The Clock in its entirety only on select dates: February 21, March 1, March 7, April 4 and April 19, 2014. The following is the schedule they list on their website:

  1. Friday, February 21 at 6 p.m. to Saturday, February 22 at 6 p.m. (opening of the exhibition).

  2. Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. to Sunday, March 2 at 6 p.m. (Nuit blanche)

  3. Friday, March 7 at 11 a.m. to Saturday, March 8 at 6 p.m. (Nocturne)

  4. Friday, April 4 at 11 a.m. to Saturday, April 5 at 6 p.m. (Max and Iris Stern Symposium)

  5. Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. to Sunday, April 20 at 6 p.m. (closing of the exhibition)

For the rest of its residency, The Clock will be screened during the opening hours of the museum. This means it’ll be accessible Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm, with the exception of Wednesdays, where the MAC stays open until 9pm. Additionally, please note that admission is on a first come, first serve basis. Because attendees can stay for as long as they wish, and because of The Clock is highly anticipated, the MAC warns that viewers should plan ahead of time, and “allow for substantial waiting time.”

If you are planning to go, let us know in the comments how you liked it.
