“As a member of the influential Harvard Sensory Ethnography Lab (Leviathan, Manakamana), JP Sniadecki has explored the social dynamics of contemporary China like no other filmmaker. Sniadecki’s most recent contribution to cinema is The Iron Ministry, an observational exploration of China’s massive rail system. Prior to that, he made People’s Park with Libbie D. Cohn, a feature length single take that explores a public park in Chengdu, China, and the people in it. In 2010 he made Foreign Parts with Véréna Paravel, a sensuous and visually dynamic exploration of a neighbourhood of used car repair shops in Queens, New York. In this Master Class, Sniadecki will speak about challenges, frustrations, and triumphs of experimental documentary filmmaking.”
