After a brief hiatus, the Film Studies master’s thesis workshop will be starting up again. This workshop is open to all MA students currently writing a thesis, and provides an opportunity to get feedback and work toward writing goals on an ongoing basis.
The thesis workshop is a supportive environment where you can gain a critical distance from your own work, receive thoughts and input from colleagues, and most importantly, take part in ongoing sessions that creates a structure that makes you accountable for getting your writing done in a timely way. We meet once every three weeks to workshop our writing.
For three years running, the workshop has been a lot of fun, and has helped a number of MA students get their thesis done in time for graduation deadlines.
Kaia Scott, a fourth year PhD student, hosts the workshop. She facilitates the workshops and act as the general taskmaster. Her qualifications include editing and tutoring of writing both informally and professionally, and she is able to provide more or less feedback on your work depending on your preferences.
The initial meeting will be on Monday, November 18th at 11am in room FB 449 for people to come out and ask questions, meet Kaia and the other thesis-ers, and to set some preliminary goals for the upcoming year. If you are interested in joining the workshop, or even if you just want to check it out, please email kaiajscott@gmail.com.
