Concordia is proud to be hosting the third edition of the Global Women’s Network* Conference from September 2-4 in room VA 114. Featuring noteworthy international and local scholarship on feminist and queer studies, “Women, Film Culture, and Globalization” will address questions of geocultural mapping, gender theory and representation, transnational marketing, and festival promotion.
Filmmaker Ulrike Ottinger will be welcomed as a special guest artist, and will be screening one of her films at the Cinémathèque Québécoise, as well as her latest short at Concordia. Kay Armatage and Skadi Loist, two prominent experts in feminist theory, will serve as keynote speakers. Several special presentations and a roundtable are on the agenda, including an homage to Chantal Akerman introduced by Veronica Pravadelli and a screening of two of her films, alongside a new documentary about women filmmakers (co-directed by Guylaine Dionne and Rosanna Maule).
Free and open to the public, students and colleagues who will be in Montreal during Labour Day weekend should not miss this conference!
